Greed

The worship of Mammon

Contrary to popular rumor, greed is not the virtue that many claim it to be. Greed is fundamentally dishonest. Greed is the desire to enjoy luxury without learning or earning. Essentially, it is usually expressed as a desire to steal. Dishonest deception is always involved. Some like to say, “Watermelon always tastes better when it’s stolen.” There is a crooked sort of philosophy behind greed. Greed is the desire to gain material value without knowledge. Even though it is fun to have more money than brains, it is destructive to self and others. Nothing at all wrong with ambition but is often mistaken for greed.
